Mighty

Platformer games are the go-to genre when it comes to people who grew up in the 90s or early 2000s, or for those of you who don't exactly have the latest gaming rig. The gameplay is simple, the difficulty can vary, and it can be a challenge even for the most seasoned of players. That is precisely the case with Mighty, a short 2D platformer where you play as a knight facing a giant roster of enemies and traps ahead.

The game is designed in what seems to be hand-drawn 2D graphics, and the animations are quite smooth as well. The background looks extremely well-made, and it contrasts the way the characters, both you and your foes, are designed. The problem is that you mustn't mistake the game's cartoon-ish style with a low difficulty setting, since your knight can only take a few enemy attacks before dying, and falling into traps will result in instant death.

As with a lot of other platformers, most levels have their own theme, ranging from forests to dungeons, from levels that take place during the day to those that are played in the darkness of night. Regardless of the settings, you have your trusted sword and spells to help you out, although some enemies will require more than just you standing next to them and slashing away. This makes it so that the game gains a few extra layers of complexity, thus avoiding what would otherwise be a boring run.

The platformer genre has been with us since the beginning of gaming and it doesn't seem to show any signs of stopping, especially when well-rounded games like Mighty are there to keep it alive and going.
