Maximum Madness
Equip your truck with weapons and survive to the next checkpoint by shooting everyone else on the way there #Mad max #Truck shooter #Racing shooter #Shooter #Race #Truck
The Mad Max series was quite a hit with the crowds, especially if you enjoy all-out action and post-apocalyptic themes. However, it’s only recently that the franchise was reborn, thanks to the new Hollywood blockbuster and a triple-A production on the video game market. Still, it would seem like the video game did not quite manage to have the same impact on the audience.
Maximum Madness is a top-down survival game in which you control a truck instead of a character, and it is your duty to drive from checkpoint to checkpoint without getting destroyed on the road. Granted, you have quite a big arsenal at your disposal as well, which means that the trip is always going to be extremely thrilling, especially if you enjoy blowing things up.
There’s not much of a story yet, although there’s probably not going to be one when the game is complete either. Thankfully, there’s absolutely no need for a plot anyway, since all you need to know is that you lose if your truck takes too much damage. The universe is inspired by Mad Max, obviously, but nothing else is directly taken from the movie, except maybe the arid wastelands and the rugged vehicles.
In order to destroy the enemies and make sure you survive the trip, you can also mount a few weapons on your truck, including machine guns, shotguns and grenade launchers. They all have limited ammo, and it’s mandatory that you replenish at every checkpoint. Fuel is required as well, although petrol is the official currency anyway, so you’d better make sure you have enough of it.
The graphics are not very impressive, but there are a few interesting gimmicks to watch out for. Hence, while the camera is top-down, there’s a small window showing you the road from the turret’s perspective, although it’s pretty tough to concentrate on both that and the road. The physics engine is very engaging, because the cars explode and fly around pretty nicely.
In the end, Maximum Madness is still in development and more content is currently being added, but it’s still a decent game even now. Thus, if you want some action and you do not mind the repetitive gameplay, this can keep you busy for a while.
