Few things are scarier than not being in control of your own life, especially when you are kidnapped and forced to do things against your will. Unfortunately, that is the case for thousands of women around the world, given the fact that human trafficking is a huge business and always has been. Thankfully, there are people out there trying to raise awareness and make a difference.
MISSING: Game for a Cause is a top-down RPG designed to tell the story of girls who are kidnapped and sold into sex rings, where they are used as prostitutes around the world against their will. Although you can regard it as a game, it’s more of a tool to raise awareness and maybe make people realize just how big the problem is, and you can actually get involved with the campaign promoted by the game.
As such, it all starts with a girl waking up in a strange place and with barely any memories of who she is. Naturally, it turns out that she is in a brothel, and she is not allowed to leave until her owner makes a nifty profit. One of the other girls helps her escape, on the other hand, but the road to freedom is not as simple as you might believe at first.
The top-down perspective is not very refined, and the controls are a bit of a bother as well, but then again you can still find your way around with a bit of effort. Most of the time the most important part is to stay hidden and avoid the sentinels, although there are also situations when you have to get keys or other items and use them in order to reach freedom.
As mentioned before, the controls are not exactly great, since there are many situations when the camera gets in the way of fun. Hence, it is fixed on your character, which is not good news when you have to pay attention to the road ahead and watch out for guards. The whole interface is rather sketchy and difficult to handle sometimes, so a bit of work is definitely required in this regard.
MISSING: Game for a Cause may have its flaws in the gameplay department, but that doesn’t get in the way of the message it tries to convey. Thus, it’s a great way to raise awareness in regards to human trafficking, and it also connects you to the organization that tries to do something about it.
