Minefield

Minefield is a straightforward clone of Minesweeper that’s built to be different only when it comes to presentation. It features the same exact gameplay rules and it also provides multiple difficulty levels. Nothing more, nothing less.

Minefield doesn’t shy at all from resembling the original. Even the name bluntly suggests that it’s Minesweeper but with a different look. Just like the original, Minefield comes with an easy to make out graphical user interface that renders the gameplay easily accessible to anyone who is familiar with the rules.

From its main window you choose the difficulty level, opt to view the high scores or exit the game. Minefield is a very basic game because the original one was too.

The only thing that might get your attention when it comes to Minefield is the fact that you can create a custom game. That means that you can assign the values for the width and length of the board, as well as the number of mines that are found in it.

For fun, you can set a board of fifty by fifty and have two hundred bombs in it, or make one much larger and just place ten bombs inside. The only real benefit of this is obvious if you have a very large screen.

To end, Minefield is Minesweeper with less to very little charm over the original. It’s biggest merit is that it is an open-source game.
