Just Me and Only Me Against The World
Clone yourself in order to fight aliens in this chaotic platformer with basic pixel graphics and a lot of action #Arcade platformer #Co-op platformer #Alien invasion #Platformer #Sidescroller #Co-op
You’d probably think that an alien invasion is a good enough reason for humanity to come together and fight as a unit to repel the threat. However, it wouldn’t be unfair to presume that most people would prefer to fight for themselves and try to hide instead of joining forces, especially if the aliens in question possess extremely advanced technology that makes our weapons useless.
Just Me and Only Me Against The World is an arcade platformer in which you play the role of humanity’s last hope. The game appears to be a simple run & gun flick with colorful pixel graphics, but there is one element that makes it special: the main character has the ability to clone himself multiple times. Using this power, he can even the odds on the battlefield and stand a chance against the aliens.
Speaking of which, the story is pretty basic, but it is funny and entertaining to follow. Short text snippets are plastered all over the game world, all of which tell you a little about your journey. As it happens, no one on Earth bothers to fight the aliens, which means that you are on your own. Using special power-ups found throughout the levels, you can clone yourself and deal a lot more damage.
The game supports local co-op as well, which means that one other person can join in the action at any time. To make things even more hilarious, the friendly fire option allows you to kill friendly clones, although this feature can become frustrating as well. Since everything else is so chaotic and difficult to follow already, friendly fire may not be the best decision in most cases.
It is worth noting that there are a couple of issues with the game as well. One of them is the fact that the clones become increasingly more difficult to control once they become separated by some space. Not only that, but if some of them get left behind, you might have to go back and try to reunite them somehow, because the camera seems to follow the last clone instead of the first.
All things being equal, Just Me and Only Me Against The World is definitely up to something. However, there are flaws that need to be fixed before this becomes playable for more than a couple of minutes.
