Inside The Void
Explore an alien planet and discover the mysteries behind its structures in this intriguing puzzle game #Exploration game #Puzzle game #Alien planet #Exploration #Explore #Puzzle
The first thing people imagine about a supposedly populated alien planet is that it will have incredibly high buildings that look more or less like ours, only smoother. Naturally, we cannot actually predict anything about them or their architecture, especially because we do not know how they might look like and how they perceive the world. Seeing in the visible light spectrum is barely something normal on Earth, let alone on some distant planet with an entirely different evolution system.
Inside The Void is a first-person exploration game that aims to make it as clear as possible that it’s very difficult to get your mind around the concept of “alien architecture”. Hence, the gameplay revolves around exploration and observation, because there is no actual action involved other than walking around and examining a couple of data logs along the way.
Speaking of which, the story starts with a cutscene that tells you about several spaceships that disappeared around a certain alien planet. Not only that, but ever since their disappearance, strange signals have been observed on it, not to mention the interesting anomalies. Thus, your job is to land on the said planet and look for survivors while also investigating the cause of the anomalies.
You can tell from the first steps that the environment is not what you usually see when someone describes alien structures. Thus, there are all sorts of mind-bending buildings you can admire, which actually contain some kind of almost infinite void. In here, everything looks like in some kind of psychedelic vision, although there are clues that can be used to figure out their purpose toward the end of the story.
Speaking of which, the graphics are pretty nice, even if the game uses a low-poly visual style based on gradients and no textures at all. The overall effect is pretty engaging, not to mention the fact that you truly feel like in a different world once you step into one of those structures. However, it’s a shame that the game world is a bit too small to really make you feel like you are exploring something great.
Inside The Void clearly wasn’t designed to stick with you for a lifetime, but it’s interesting enough to make you stop and think about a few things every now and again. Hence, if you are up for a virtual walk and you do not mind being puzzled by what you see, this can easily keep you busy for a while.
