There are many interesting theories in physics and statistics, some of which seem too ludicrous to even be considered. As an example, statistics say that it is entirely possible for a human brain to form by accident somewhere in the universe. It may indeed take a very long time, but there is always the chance for the right number and combination of particles to come together and make a brain. In fact, on a long enough timescale it actually becomes a certainty.
Infinite Monkey Autocorrect is a hilarious game based on a similar theory, which grants you control over a monkey in charge of writing a manuscript. You only have partial control over the said monkey, on the other hand, and the manuscript is more like a long text message. Even if it is possible to see everything the game has to offer in about two or three minutes, you’ll definitely hang around for longer than that.
As mentioned above, the game is based on a theory. Hence, the Typewriter Theory states that if an infinite number of monkeys with typewriters had an infinite amount of time at their disposal, they could actually write any past, present or future novels, scenarios and stories. It may sound ludicrous, but you have to remember that they have an infinite amount of time to do so, even if they are not actually learning anything at any point.
In short, the game works by allowing you to press only two keys. The monkey’s fingers hover randomly around the keyboard and they strike a key whenever you push one of the Shift keys. Naturally, the result is gibberish most of the time, but the game also uses Google's suggestion algorithm to form actual words, which is as hilarious as you might imagine.
In fact, you can save and submit your results online, as well as view a plain text document containing submissions from everyone else who has tried the game. Most of the results are funny and pointless, but there are a few interesting phrases and even entire sentences every now and again. Lastly, as you might very well expect, the graphics are pretty basic, but the music keeps you company in the background at all times.
All things considered, Infinite Monkey Autocorrect is obviously not much of a game, but the idea is quite brilliant. You can have a lot of fun with the concept, especially if you put a bit of effort into it. The fact that you are rewarded with points for the words you manage to type gives you an extra push to keep playing.
