I Will Be Happy

I Will Be Happy is a nice little shoot’em up game in which the premise is simple and yet very effective. We’ve all walked around the city and have noticed people who lack smiles, who don’t seem to be happy about anything, all they do is roam around grumpy sucking away your positive vibes. Now is the time to change that because you have an arsenal of weapons that can make things better.

In I Will Be Happy you literally have to shoot people to make them love you and everything else there is to be happy for. Equipped with weapons that shoot divine hugs, loving embraces, bursts of affection and barriers of empathy, the uptight self-loathing citizens have no chance.

The controls are simple and intuitive which make the game very easy to play and that adds to the overall enjoyment. Its graphics are almost beyond simple, they give the game a cute look and it looks harmless even though you kill hundreds of people in it.

The main goal is to rescue from sadness as many people as you can. However, when you start shooting they will come at you like zombies and will try to make you crazy by feeding on your sanity. Each hit depletes 5 points and there is no way to recover from it. You need to really focus on aiming well.

Each of the five weapons has limited ammo so making the best of it counts for a lot. Moreover, they have different firing methods, some shoot single projectiles, like the divine hug, while others can make people happy on a larger scale.

I Will Be Happy was build during Lundum Dare 32, and this year the theme is ‘An Unconventional Weapon’. It should now make more sense and you can easily see that the social aspect on which this game was built is very real and is an actual concern each one of us should take into consideration.

Now, going around shooting people won’t make them happy but there is a lot you can do. Like sharing games such as this one with them.
