I Like Walking Very Much
Enjoy a serene walk through the woods and see what it would be like to live the life of a spider #Walking simulator #Exploration game #Spider sim #Walk #Sim #Simulator
Being an insignificant creature should be a familiar feeling to every human, given the fact that our size and lifespan are imperceptible in the grand scheme of things. However, there are much smaller creatures than us, which makes you think about how the world would look from their perspective. Thanks to the miracle of video games, you can experience it instead of imagining it.
I Like Walking Very Much is a pretty weird game, in the sense that there’s not much of a story or any kind of gameplay mechanics. Instead, all you do is walk, and the 2D perspective makes it that much simpler as well. On the other hand, you are not a human, but a strange spider that appears to be made of wood. There seems to be a life lesson somewhere in there as well, at least if you make it to the end of the game.
Probably the most engaging thing about the game is the atmosphere, because everything works really well together, especially in regards to the environment and the visual presentation. Even if the perspective is restrained to only two dimensions, the backgrounds have depth, and it truly feels like you are in a forest. Unfortunately, the level design can be a tad repetitive sometimes.
Every now and again you’ll come in contact with a human, and the experience varies depending on the person. Some of them freak out when you get near them, while others let you crawl on their skin and continue your journey. There’s no way for them to hurt you, and you cannot hurt them either, which means that there’s no violence involved.
The controls are as simple as pie as well, given the fact that all you usually have to do is keep moving forward by holding down the appropriate key. You’ll have to climb things every now and again, but the only challenge about that is remembering to switch keys. The game also supports a controller, in case you do not want to use a keyboard.
In the end, I Like Walking Very Much probably won’t turn your world upside down, but the atmosphere and the general mood of the game are relaxing enough to be worth a playthrough. It might make you think about certain things, not all of which are very pleasant.
