Heroes of Civilizations
Battle using different ancient civilizations in this card game sporting turn-based strategy mechanics #Turn-based strategy #Strategy game #Card game #Strategy #Turn-based #Card
Card games have made quite the comeback in the last few years, given the fact that a few big developers have tried their luck in the genre. It’s not difficult to copy mechanics and ideas from other games, but it’s very hard to come up with original concepts nowadays, given the fact that there are hundreds of titles out there that approach the subject from every possible angle.
Heroes of Civilizations is a CCG that allows you to pit various ancient civilizations against each other and use your best strategy in order to win. Unfortunately, the game is very unrefined at this point, especially in terms of interface and gameplay mechanics. Nothing works quite as it should, and the battles get repetitive after only a few minutes, given the fact that all you have to do is play the cards and watch the results.
As it’s always the case, you can customize your deck and get familiar with the cards, because it’s still rather important that you know how to use your units. There are five different civilizations to pick from, including the Persians, the Greeks and the Egyptians. They all have unique units, some of which are designed to mimic the historical ones in order to make the experience more appealing.
The gameplay revolves around making the best out of your cards, which is why you must pay attention to unity classes and card types. Ranger, Mystic, Siege and God are all possible classes, and each one of them has a specific role during battle. There are also three card types, namely unit, trap and upgrade, which come in handy when you need to change the course of a fight.
Unfortunately, the gameplay is very unrefined, especially in regards to the interface. It’s always tricky to understand what needs to be done, especially since the buttons are badly positioned and not very obvious most of the time. The artwork is basic as well, and you don’t learn much from the tutorial either, which is one more annoyance on top of all the others.
In the end, Heroes of Civilizations does not seem to take itself very seriously, unfortunately, since it plays like a very boring CCG flick with no original ideas whatsoever. The interface is clunky and unhelpful, not to mention all the bugs and the random crashes that plague it.
