Hanano Puzzle 2

Sometimes, even the simplest gameplay mechanics have the power to keep you engaged for hours on end, especially when it comes to puzzle games that also provide you with a challenge. Solving riddles after fighting with them for a long time is a very satisfying feeling, which is why players feel compelled to keep at it until frustration forces them to take a break.

Hanano Puzzle 2 is an apparently simple puzzle game that has the power to keep you playing for a very long time if you like a challenge. The seemingly basic gameplay mechanics are quite deceiving, because the actual levels are very tough, not to mention the fact that they require a lot of tinkering and trial & error before you can find the correct solution.

In short, the goal is to move blocks around and get them near the flowers in order for the blocks to bloom as well. Once they bloom, they take two vertical spaces instead of one, which sometimes comes in handy. However, you have to think ahead and perform many permutations in order to get all the blocks in the correct position, and there are many ways to get stuck along the way.

The good thing is that it’s very fun to do these permutations, since nothing stops you from trying over and over again, unless of course you manage to get the pieces stuck. Even so, there’s an undo button that takes you back one move, as well as a restart option that restores the whole level. It’s easy to keep trying new solutions, which is why you might find yourself trying for hours on end sometimes.

Unfortunately, there are not too many levels at the moment, and it would be nice to see more in the future. In additions, the graphics are fairly basic as well, which is not exactly a bad thing, but considering the simple nature of the game, it wouldn’t have been too difficult to include better textures. The music gets annoying after a while too, but at least that can be disabled with ease.

In the end, Hanano Puzzle 2 is a much better game than you might believe at first, especially thanks to the challenging puzzles and simple gameplay mechanics. However, it needs more content and a few tweaks when it comes to graphics.
