In fact, the simple pleasure of getting a highscore can be enough sometimes, especially if it’s a competitive game that measures your performance against people from all over the world. Hence, match three games can be as fierce as Starcraft when it comes to the battle between players.

FaeVerse Alchemy is a match three game that features interesting gameplay mechanics and an unusually high level of difficulty. Hence, it’s not enough to put three candy pieces near each other in order to obtain a match, because the whole thing gets tougher and tougher the more elements you match. Hence, every move has to be calculated, which is that much more challenging in the long run.

The elements you match do not disappear from the board, at least not entirely. Hence, three pieces of the same kind evolve into the next kind of element, and you have to keep going until you reach the rarest of elements. However, it gets very difficult to arrange everything toward the end, because primitive pieces keep dropping even when the whole board is full of rare ones.

You can try your hand at multiple modes, although the core mechanics remain the same regardless of what you choose. Hence, whether you have to make it to the rarest element or play for as long as you can in the Infinity mode, it all depends on what you are in the mood for. You can even try your wits in Versus mode and challenge another player to a match.

A puzzle mode is included as well, although it’s not what you think. In short, the game starts from a predefined configuration, and you have to accomplish certain goals and match specific elements as neatly as possible. It’s still very difficult to do so, which means that it should be a blast for those who want a challenge. Frustration can be an issue, on the other hand, especially since randomness is such an important factor sometimes.

When it’s all said and done, FaeVerse Alchemy is a pretty cool concept, mainly because it combines so many interesting mechanics into a single package. It’s replay value is through the roof, at least if you can deal with all the frustration.
