Multiplayer shooters are usually pretty violent and graphic, which is why almost all of them come with an M rating. Naturally, that doesn’t stop teenagers from flooding the servers, but then again it’s only virtual blood anyway. On the other hand, you can also enjoy your passion in a more real environment, as it’s the case with paintball and airsoft.
F.AIR. Fire Airsoft Simulator is a first-person shooter that features airsoft guns instead of real ones, which should be a lot less violent than something like Battlefield or Call of Duty. You get to fight bots instead of other players, so that’s another factor that makes the game feel a lot less violent. On the other hand, it’s still a pretty fun experience, in spite of the fact that you cannot see any blood.
There are two levels to choose from, although one of them is basically a training area where you can learn how to handle your weapon and how to move around. You can shoot all sorts of objects and test your aiming, but there are no enemies to be seen. Hence, if you want to really start playing, you can change the map and head into the forest, where it’s pretty difficult to keep an eye on everything around you.
There are only three weapons to choose from, both of which have similar capabilities, except for the fact that one has a flashlight attached and one comes with a laser targeting system. Your goal is to touch the enemies with a pellet, because that’s all it takes to put them out of the game. At the end, the game calculates your score, and you can compare it with friends through the online service provided by Gamejolt.
As for the graphics, the game is designed in Unity, so it certainly looks decent. The level design is actually quite nice, even if it gets repetitive after a while because of all the indigo trees. On the other hand, it gets difficult to orientate yourself sometimes, which can be frustrating. Other than that, everything else is more or less as you would expect, although the shooting mechanics could be polished a bit.
In the end, F.AIR. Fire Airsoft Simulator may not find a huge audience for itself, but it’s exactly what airsoft fans are looking for, minus the multiplayer part. Hence, as long as that component is added in the future, this could be a very popular game in certain circles.
