Everyday Lite Demo
Take care of your faeries, put them to work and cook various recipes in this interesting simulation game #Simulation game #Cooking game #Strategy game #Cook #Cooking #Sim
Cooking is a pretty common theme in casual video games, but most of the time it appears in time management flicks, and you do not have any say in the actual process. Some RPGs also feature cooking as a mechanic, although most of the time it has to do with potions and alchemical substances instead of food, so it doesn’t really count. Thankfully, the game at hand tackles the art of cooking head on.
Everyday Lite is a simulation game in which you are in charge of a village, with the ultimate purpose being to erect new structures and expand the village as much as possible. Granted, there are all sorts of threats that can put your inhabitants in danger, such as natural disasters or enemy attacks, but you can deal with those too, or at least mitigate their effects afterward.
The game is actually just a slice of an upcoming production, so it includes only two functional elements: the cooking system and the village management system. However, it must be mentioned that it’s pretty difficult to figure out how either of them works, mainly because the tutorial is very vague and spotty. Thus, sometimes it works, other times it repeats itself, and more often than not it doesn’t provide you with any meaningful advice at all.
The cooking system is by far the most enjoyable at the moment, even if it’s not very polished yet. Hence, you have a kitchen where all the ingredients gathered by the faeries are stored, and you get to mix them into interesting recipes. It’s possible to use a pan or the oven, as well as cook them raw if they are safe to eat, as is the case with vegetables. You can also set the temperature, because you might not get the desired results if the oven/pan temperature isn’t quite right.
As for the village management part, it’s not difficult to figure out how to build new structures or operate the ones you already have, but there are some stats that are a pure mystery at this point. You can keep the faeries fed by cooking, but there are other attributes that affect their mood, and it’s difficult to understand what you can do to keep them happy. The interface is pretty straightforward, but it still needs some work at this point.
In the end, Everyday Lite certainly has potential, but in this form it is more confusing than it is fun. Hence, while the cooking system is definitely enjoyable, the rest of the elements are very random and seemingly incomplete.
