Donald Duck Demo
Help Donald rescue his friend in this retro platformer based on the adventures of the famous Disney character #Donald Adventure #Disney Game #Arcade Platformer #Donald #Duck #Quest
Comic book and cartoon characters from decades ago are still quite popular nowadays, including classics like Mickey Mouse, Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny. Donald Duck is also quite the well-known entity around the world, especially thanks to his distinctive voice and speech impediment that made the goofy duck so recognizable.
Donald Duck is a classic platformer in which you play as the character with the same name and tackle a variety of adventures, while exploring a fascinating world filled with wonders and danger. However, don’t expect top-notch quality when it comes to story or gameplay, because the game is an indie production and it can barely be considered a demo, because it’s extremely short.
As such, it all starts when Donald finds out from Goofy that one of his friends is missing. In response, you have to go on an adventure and try to rescue your friend, while dealing with the obstacles lying ahead. Various enemies attempt to stop you along the way, but Donald can deal with them rather easily by using his special ranged attack, which has the power to stop everything from harming you.
Gameplay-wise, the controls and the mechanics are more or less the same as they have been ever since the arcade platformer genre came into existence. Hence, besides jumping around to avoid obstacles, you also have to collect various items and deal with enemies by shooting them with what appear to be fireballs. Unfortunately, the stars you collect from all over the place do not seem to be doing anything, not to mention the fact that there is no HUD to display how many you’ve got, or whether they count toward something.
Things are very retro from a visual point of view as well, although the backgrounds have been modeled in 3D before fixing the perspective in the classic platformer way. However, the graphics still look very basic and difficult to swallow on modern computers, especially since everything is stretched even more so on widescreens nowadays.
All things being equal, Donald Duck is not very original and it doesn’t come up with any kind of new idea to implement into its formula. Hence, even if the developers got around to developing more than two minutes of gameplay, this would still be a poor game with little to no value to average gamers.
