Dagdrom
A conceptual platformer that's relaxing to play but at the same time, it makes you think #Adventure platformer #Puzzle platformer #Paint path #Platformer #Puzzle #Paint
In Norwegian, dagdrom translates to daydream, fantasy. Daydreams, everyone has them, they’re part of life. Often enough we ask others what do they daydream about and we get all kinds of answers but what about getting the chance to actually see where some minds take others.
This little platformer has a strong chance of winning you over. Why? Because it has an identity, a unique look, it’s easy to learn but challenging while playing and it’s also the kind of game you enjoy all the way until the end.
The protagonist is headless, he has no name, no past and probably no future but the latter is for you to discover. You start to explore the minimalistic world and are greeted with hints about the ‘this and thats’ of where you are. Soon enough you find out that you have the power to use paint, beautiful paint of all colors, to create physical paths in that vast empty space.
In Dagdrom you have no head because, maybe, since this is your daydream, you don't need it, you just have to be there in some kind of form. This little game can be an expression of a lot of things and if you want to interpret it, surely you can come up with at least five theories about what it means.
As far as the game itself goes, it’s excellent. It’s minute, but excellent. The gameplay is that specific to platformers, you jump from one place to another until you reach your destination, the difference here is that you use paint to create the platforms. Your ammo is limited but it can be recharged, you can use it to boost yourself up into the air and there are several other features that make it much more interesting.
In terms of difficulty, Dagdrom will have a few surprises for you. It might seem like a silly little thing but it actually has a lot of depth.
To wrap it up, if you’re looking for a lightweight platformer that’s fun to play and well crafted, Dagdrom is a really good choice. If you want something that makes you think about how each of us has to paint our own paths in life, then Dagdrom is a great choice.
