It’s a well-crafted endless jumping arcade game. The goal is to make your way as far as you can over as many obstacles as you can, one small leap at a time. It sounds simple enough, and it is, but it’s also tons of fun.

Crossy Road might as well be Frogger but thirty years later. You have a character, and you have to help him, her or it cross the street, jump over train tracks and survive leaping from one floating log to another.

However, Crossy Road takes that simple concept and makes it borderline irresistible to the casual gamer, or anyone for that matter. The game features excellently crafted voxel artwork that perfectly embodies the concept of less is more. Crossy Road looks great without there being much to it.

In terms of design, it’s flawless for an arcade game that was initially built for mobiles and tablets. Moreover, you get over one hundred characters to unlock and play, and each one is too cute to resist. So much so that you might get sad when they get hit bit a car or run over by the train.

Crossy Road is that kind of game with which you can lose not only hours but days. It has super simple controls, but the gameplay is the right kind of blend between easy and challenging.

Whenever you start a game, the world ahead of you is randomized one jump at a time. This way, you’ll never have time to break focus, and you will always feel the excitement of making twenty consecutive jumps and not dying in a silly manner.

Given the simple nature of it all, how it works, looks, and sounds, you won’t be able to stay away from it. As you can imagine, for a free to play game there has to be a catch, and there is one to this as well. All the 100+ characters can be bought using in-game currency but that takes a long time to earn, and you might feel tempted to buy some using real cash. However, this is one of those games in which you won’t regret spending 99 cents on a donkey, or a robot.
