Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies

As every seasoned gamer can attest, Half-Life changed first-person shooters forever with its revolutionary approach to the genre. Naturally, it spawned a great number of clones and mods after that, some of which managed to live to this day. Counter-Strike is probably the most notorious of them, given the fact that it was turned into an insanely successful standalone game a few years ago.

Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies tells you everything you need to know about itself right in the name, because there’s not much else to it than that. In short, this is the classic Counter-Strike with zombies, featuring a confrontation between humans and the undead instead of the regular war against terror. Unfortunately, both the technology used to create the game and the actual mechanics are way too sketchy to be fun nowadays.

Unlike Left 4 Dead or similar games, the gameplay is a bit different here. Everyone starts out human at the beginning of the round, and some of the players are infected after a few seconds. Then, each zombie can infect other players by touching them, and the round ends when either the zombies or the humans win. It sounds pretty cool in theory, but there are many mistakes to keep you from having fun.

The zombies have some special abilities as well, such as extra speed and a few other perks. They also take advantage of their lifeless bodies to resist a lot of bullets, which makes them pretty tough to kill. On the other hand, they come to a halt once they are hit, so you can only advance when players are not actively shooting at you. It becomes frustrating, especially since you can buy better guns in exchange for real money.

In the technical department, it must be mentioned that the game is pretty old, although obviously not as old as the classic Counter-Strike. However, it looks exactly like it, which may be a problem for those who are not big on nostalgia. There are also severe gameplay limitations because of this, and you have to ask yourself who would choose this over a more modern game.

Even if the classic Counter-Strike might still have its fans, Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is not very well polished, and it has too many limitations to satisfy the modern gamer. Hence, unless you are eager to relive a few memories, there are very few reasons to invest time and money in this game.
