Cake Knight
Defend your homeland from evil vegetables in this colorful and sweet action game with hack and slash elements #Hack and slash #Adventure game #Action game #Cake #Knight #Action
Hack and slash games are usually full of blood and gore, which is only natural when you think about what the genre represents. Hence, games like Diablo and Torchlight have you killing hundreds of demons and hell spawns per minute, which means that a little blood is the least of your worries. On the other hand, the experience can be a lot less graphic as well if the developers want to send a different message.
Cake Knight is a colorful hack and slash game featuring a lovely cupcake as the main character and a world made of candy instead of the usual dungeons. Thus, there are considerably fewer body parts and a lot more sugar in the game, which is great if you are not a hardcore fan of the genre. Hence, if you just want to enjoy a quick adventure and slay a few creatures while you’re at it, this can easily keep you entertained for a while.
The story starts when Sir Cupcake’s homeland is attacked by vicious vegetables that threaten the sweetness of his village. Naturally, he takes up his sword and goes to save everyone from the vegetable plague, which is how the action begins. There are no complex character arcs and no great plot twists, which means that you can enjoy yourself without having to strain your imagination.
When it comes to the gameplay, the only thing you have to do is swing your sword whenever an enemy gets too close, as well as raise your shield if you have to deal with ranged attacks. It’s a pretty hands-on system, actually, and it can be pretty challenging every now and again. However, the enemies are very slow and easy to avoid, so no hardcore fan of the genre should have trouble with them.
As for the graphics, the game is as pink and colorful as you might imagine, especially when it comes to level design. In fact, everything is made out of candy or cake, so it can be difficult to think of anything else after you stop playing. The music is pretty jolly as well, although there’s nothing too memorable or catchy about it.
All things considered, Cake Knight is not a revolutionary game, but it’s fun enough to keep you busy for a while, especially if you do not mind the simple gameplay mechanics. The game is very relaxing from visual standpoint as well.
