Beans Inc
Take care of your own restaurant in this first-person simulation sporting low-poly graphics and simple gameplay mechanics #Restaurant simulator #Arcade game #Simulation game #Restaurant #Tycoon #Sim
Being in charge of your own business is certainly more appealing than being an employee, but you have to remember that all the responsibilities fall upon you. Hence, there’s no one to blame when things go wrong, and no one to lend a hand when you need a bit of help. On the other hand, there’s nothing like being able to say that you are your own boss and everything is going well.
Beans Inc is a simple simulator in which you play the role of a small establishment owner who has to serve customers, clean the dishes and generally do everything else that’s required. The mechanics are very, very rough at the moment, but there’s definitely potential in the idea, at least if the developers keep working on it. It’s also worth noting that the controls are not ideal right now.
To begin with, the whole thing looks very unfinished, but you can concentrate on doing your job instead. Customers start coming in a few minutes after opening time, and you have to serve them as quickly as possible, otherwise they become annoyed and leave. The kitchen has everything you need, such as apples, glasses, a coffee maker and an oven, and they are fairly easy to use.
Unfortunately, there’s no guide whatsoever, and given the fact that the customers expect you to cook some of the food or at least prepare it in some way, it’s difficult to understand what needs to be done in the beginning. You can probably understand the mechanics through trial and error, but then again the rest of the game is very rough as well, so it’s not really worth the effort.
Lastly, the graphics are quite bad, although this is the least of the game’s problems, given the fact that everything else needs attention first. However, it’s difficult not to notice the texture-less environment and the lack of attention when it comes to level design, even the game is supposed to feature a low-poly graphics style. There’s no sound to talk about yet, but that too should be way at the bottom of the to-do list.
In the end, it does sound pretty interesting to be in charge of a restaurant, but the mechanics in Beans Inc are far from enjoyable. Thus, a lot more work is needed until this becomes the kind of game that’s enjoyable.
