Battle High 2

Battle High 2 is an arcade style fighting game in which the battle takes place in a High School for gifted children. The protagonists are Elementals who learn about the elements, earth, sky, fire, water and energy, and how to manipulate them.

Battle High 2 is, at its core, like most other indie fighting games. You get several modes, you pick a fighter from several and get started. This one offers 12 playable fighters with an extra one left for you to discover, and each one is truly unique, funny even.

There are no blood splatters within the pixel graphics and no ‘fatalities’ to unleash as devastating last blows. It’s all about dissing and avoiding punches, kicks and, of course, a wide range of elemental attacks. As a fighting game, it’s as true as they come because it features the classic gameplay mechanics.

The fighters in Battle High 2 come with individual background stories that back up what they can do in the arena. Each one is different and comes with his or her collection of special moves. Just like in most arcade fighters, in this one you can also train your reflexes and quick thinking to deliver some devastating combos.

What’s more, and adds to the value of the game, is that the moves each one has don’t come with a universal combination. Some are similar but most of them require different sets of keys to combine so mastering all the fighters takes time.

Battle High 2 is somewhere between new and old, fast-paced and ‘i saw that coming from a mile away’. It looks good as far as indie games go, and the gameplay is solid, fluent; it enables you to get the best out of the fighting.
