Hence, it can be much more efficient to simulate the interaction on the computer and let the little girls play as much as they like without making a mess all over the house.

Barbie Princess Designs is a classic dress up game that allows children to use their imagination in order to create beautiful clothes for a Barbie princess. There’s not much more to it than that, but the experience can last longer if the players put some effort into coming up with different designs every time they start a new game. As such, although the replay value is not exactly through the roof, it’s still decent.

To begin with, there are two different gameplay modes to choose from, which brings a bit of variety to the game. Hence, you can either tackle a series of tests in the Challenge mode and see whether you’ve got what it takes to be a royal fashion designer, or you can play in the Freestyle mode and just go with whatever looks good to you, with no one to judge the results.

Princess dresses are not the same as the ones you might see movie stars wearing on the red carpet, because princesses are apparently even more vain. Hence, you have the possibility to choose from a variety of extravagant gowns and shapes, not to mention the plethora of accessories. Tiaras, rings and white wings are not absent from the inventory either, so your princess can truly look like she belongs in a fairy tale.

As it is usual in the genre, the graphics are practically exploding with color and glitter, which should make the target audience more than happy. However, while the characters and the environments might be colorful and pretty, the lack of animations can be a tad disappointing at times. The music is rather repetitive as well, although this problem tends to dissipate in the background as long as you have fun with the rest of the game.

In the end, Barbie Princess Designs may have its fair share of flaws, but it is designed well enough to be easily accessible to basically everyone, especially young children. Hence, if you need something to keep your kid occupied, this might do the trick for a while.
