BOOS
Destroy entire cities by simply walking through buildings in this simple action game. #Action game #Destruction game #Boss simulator #Action #Destruction #Destroy
Whenever video games feature boss fights and huge enemies, you can’t help but wonder what it would be like if the roles were switched and you got to play as the monster for once. Naturally, there have been some attempts over the years, but not many of them stood out, unfortunately. Indie developers are quick to try new ideas, however, even if the results are not particularly impressive most of the time.
BOOS is a third-person action game in which you play as a huge monster stomping over a city in an attempt to reduce it to rubble. The game is not that refined at the moment, given the fact that it lacks missions, abilities or even proper textures in some cases, but it can be fun for a few minutes. However, you must lower your expectations a little bit in order to enjoy the experience, because there are some bugs as well.
The main character is a huge blue monster seeking revenge on a city, but he doesn’t seem to have any actual powers or anything of the sort. Instead, he can just walk around and destroy buildings with his weight, which is a bit anticlimactic, especially when everything looks so basic. There are tanks, soldiers and helicopters trying to stop you, but the monster is immune to any kind of damage.
In case you manage to reduce every skyscraper to rubble in the city, there is also a small village nearby that can be destroyed, although it’s not as fun to level tiny houses. It’s also worth noting that not everything in the game can be obliterated, because the army buildings are very sturdy. It would also be nicer if you had to accomplish some other missions as well, because the mindless destruction gets repetitive pretty quickly.
The controls are annoying too, especially in terms of camera movement. You can use the mouse to rotate, but that doesn’t change the direction of your character, which is obviously counterintuitive. Instead, you have to use the arrow keys to turn the monster around, and it’s also possible to jump, even if there’s rarely a reason to do so.
All things considered, BOOS is just a tad too empty and repetitive at this point to be fun for more than a few minutes. Hence, some kind of missions are needed, as well as better controls and more environmental diversity.
