Aerena

Aerena is a turn-based tactics game that combines TBS, RPG and collectible card games into one enjoyable and challenging experience. You’ll have to form a team of highly skilled mercenaries and use them to the best of their abilities to enter the arena and become the ultimate champions.

Aerena comes with a simplistic interface and gameplay model. It’s one which will seem very familiar if you’ve played collectible card games or TBS titles in general because it follows the same guidelines. You recruit a number of heroes and use them and their unique skills to defeat your enemies in the arena.

The goal is to take down the opposing commander’s ship using any means possible before he manages to do the same thing. This can be achieved in multiple ways, either by having your fighters smash up the ship themselves, or by using special attacks that cost aether. Regardless of the one you opt for, there will always be the added challenges of making sure your heroes don’t die in vain, that to defend your own ship and to manage your forces as best as possible.

When you start Aerena, you are granted access to a few random heroes which you will use in combat. As you win battles, complete daily missions and unlock badges, you are rewarded with cash that can be spent in the shop to permanently purchase new heroes, ships and upgrades.

Each hero comes with his or her special skills and using them throughout a battle makes a huge difference. Enemy heroes can be thrown off of the arena, or use special tactics to for quick assaults or built your offensive on a strong defense. Although there aren’t all that many heroes to choose from, a lot combinations are possible. More so, there are shells to purchase and used to power-up your commander’s special abilities.

Aerena looks good, gameplay is well polished and diversity is pretty ok. Since there are daily missions, a very large number of badges to work for and public matchmaking, the potential of investing a good couple of hours in it is there.
