A Lifetime of Realistic Simulations might sound like a sim, but it’s more like a statement of the fact that we rarely have proper choices in real life.
A Lifetime of Realistic Simulations was submitted and developed for the GameJolt GDC jam. From the name of the game, you would be inclined to think that it’s a complex or maybe a catchy game. It’s neither. In fact, it’s even difficult to say that it’s a game, although it does use a game engine and seems to follow some rules.
The version of the game is 0.1.0, so it’s pretty clear that it’s no complete and that you won’t get the best it has to offer. On the other hand, it’s not likely that it will advance more than has until now. It also appears to have some replay value, but there is zero chance of that, and I’m going to tell you why.
A Lifetime of Realistic Simulations is a short game, and you will be done with it in a few minutes. If you don’t want to know what’s it all about, you shouldn’t read from this point forward.
It’s about life and the choices we make. The name wasn’t chosen at random, and it describes the game pretty accurately. You are born, you live, you choose your education, maybe your job, you make some judgments about life, and you die.
This seems to be the kicker. No matter what choices you have made in the game, it always ends in the same way, with you dead. It draws parallels between the real life, and you could say that it’s some sort of a social commentary. Or maybe it’s not finished.
It’s a really small game, and it doesn’t require installation. A Lifetime of Realistic Simulations is more or less a series of slides, with choices.
You can make it full screen, and there are some different options for a couple of the entries, but, for the most part, you won’t be able to do much than just die. It might sound like a weird game, and it is, but not everything has to make sense,
