The video was corrected in the meantime

The latest trailer launched for Uncharted 4 seems to include some artwork from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

A guy working for Ubisoft Montreal, Azaïzia Aymar spotted a known image in the latest Uncharted 4 story trailer, which seems to be taken from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. The reason for using such an image, for just a few frames, is not clear, although there are few available explanations.

The new Uncharted 4 trailer focuses on the story and the biggest pirate treasure in history. As you would expect, an island is involved, so for just one second a painting of a tropical island comes into view. This painting is identical to a piece of artwork for Ubisoft’s Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

As I said, there aren’t too many possible explanations. The most obvious is that someone in the art department was asked to come up with a drawing of a tropical island. Instead of doing something by hand, that person chose a lesser known piece of artwork. It’s possible that the artist just found it online and didn’t make the connection.

The idea of this being intentional doesn’t seem possible unless tomorrow Ubisoft and Sony have some sort of cross-over between Uncharted 4 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, which is also unlikely.

We’ll leave you with the tweet from Azaïzia Aymar, which says it all.

The video has been changed in the meantime. There is a new one available. The painting was at the 1.38 mark. The old video was taken down by Sony, but it's still available on various YouTube channels. Most likely it's going to be taken down soon.
