Video game developer The Creative Assembly is announcing that it is delivering a major new update for Total War: Arena, called Fury of Arminius, which is designed to mark the move into a closed beta period and the fact that no more wipes will be implemented for the strategy title.

The said content delivers the new Barbarian faction, with a host of new units and tactical choices, bringing stealth, subterfuge, and hit-and-run tactics to the battlefield.

Arminius is the new commander that gamers can choose to use in Total War: Arena and he comes complete with a range of upgrades that will boost his forces.

Gamers can also play an entirely new Rubicon map.

The developers state, "Caesar’s crossing of the Rubicon River marked a pivotal point in ancient history, and this new map with its open terrain and treacherous crossing marks new tactical opportunities for all factions - Roman, Greek and Barbarian alike."

A range of balance changes and improvements are also implemented for Total War: Arena.

The free-to-play title is designed to give gamers a new take on the classic battlefield mechanics of the series, with 10 gamers on each side having to coordinate their moves in order to take out enemies and control the battlefield.

The title also features a progression system for both units and commanders, and gamers can use real-world money to improve their abilities.
