No Man's Sky, the new space sim from Hello Games promises to feature a powerful single player component and, most importantly, to be playable offline.

There are quite a few space sims already out or still in the planning stages. Most of them are built as an online experience, but No Man's Sky will be playable offline. It will be interesting to see how that will be done and it's really good news.

No Man's Sky is also listed on GOG.com, and it looks like it won’t have any kind of DRM and it will be playable offline. The developers could have just listed the title as it is, but Hello Games mentioned this explicitly.

“DRM-FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.” This seems to be in contrast with the recent events that are happening in the Microsoft world, and it’s something that will make a lot of people happy.

The developers have also listed the system requirements for the game, and they seem to be more than acceptable. Users will need at least an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, an NVidia GTX 480 video card, and 10GB of free space.

The thing that’s going to be the most interesting is the way the game will store and handle the data about discovered planets, creatures, and everything else.

No Man's Sky will be released on June 21 for PC and PlayStation 4.
