The game creator is leaving once the project is done

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the final title on the series on which creator Hideo Kojima is working, but any link to him has been removed from the most recent version of the official cover, which will be used for both digital distribution and the retail package.

NeoGAF has spotted the new version on the official site.

The video game's publisher, Konami, and the game maker had a public falling out earlier in the year, and it seems that once the current project is complete, they will part ways.

The Hideo Kojima-led team has not talked about the reasons for the current issues and is not saying what it plans to do once it has shipped Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The new title seems to be the final in the current story arc of the franchise and will use an open-world structure for the first time, with more options for players, better enemies, bigger locations and more tools to use.

Konami is eager to launch more Metal Gear Solid experiences in the future, but it's unclear how interested gamers will be without the presence of Hideo Kojima.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be offered on the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One on September 1 and gamers will be able to also pick it up on the PC two weeks after that.
