Video game developers Press Play and publisher Microsoft are announcing that the new title the Denmark-based studio is working on is Knoxville, the title that managed to attract the biggest number of votes from the fan community.

The title is offering a third-person, multiplayer experience with a focus on action, which asks gamers to create alliances in order to survive in a weird futuristic game show setting.

Press Play states, "It’s inspired by films like 'The Running Man' and 'The Hunger Games' and players must work together and against each other. And this is just the beginning: Press Play’s community will get the chance to engage with the studio throughout Knoxville’s open development."

The developers are currently working on the prototype of the game and on Thursday, September 17, the team will offer a first look at the core mechanics via a Twitch stream.

The open development process that Press Play is planning to use means that gamers will be able to play early copies of the title and will be consulted on some of the core ideas that power it, although at the moment it is unclear how the process will work.

Knoxville does not have an official launch window and will be offered on the Xbox One.

Press Play is best known for the work it has done on Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.
