The team at Paradox Interactive has announced a major After Dark expansion for Cities: Skylines and a new space-based grand strategy title called Stellaris at Gamescom 2015, but the biggest coming launch for it is still the World War II focused Hearts of Iron IV.

The new trailer for the game shows an alternate historical scenario in which Germany manages to launch an invasion of the British Isles after its initial successes and defeats the Empire, basically ending the war in Europe.

Paradox Development Studios shows some of the core mechanics of Hearts of Iron IV, including the new game engine, which focuses on a realistic representation of the world and the new strategic plans.

The game also seeks to improve how production works, the way research is being conducted and how the player can influence the politics of his nation.

The team states, "From the heart of the battlefield to the command center, you will guide your nation to glory and wage war, negotiate or invade. You hold the power to tip the very balance of WWII."

Hearts of Iron IV should be out on the PC at some point in early 2016, after being delayed from its original date of second quarter 2015.
