Playing Amsterdam and Game of Thrones: Ascent

There are moments when even the most dedicated of gamers should separate themselves from their passion as much as possible, if only to get an even higher degree of pleasure when they finally return to their computer, console, handheld or smartphone.

I am trying to currently do this via a trip to Amsterdam, exploring the city alongside my friends and focusing more on history, architecture, food, beer and other local attractions.

But, even as I am immersing myself as much as I can in a foreign place and the interesting feelings and ideas it can generate, I find that I cannot separate myself from video game thinking entirely.

In airports and on trains, I am constantly wondering why no one has created complex management titles linked to these activities, to the process of taking a human being and managing them from the moment they buy a ticket until they get to their destinations.

While walking through Amsterdam, I also think about the way groups of friends on vacation interact and the way not even the most recent Sims manages to capture the exchanges and quick understanding that happen between living beings.

I am trying not to use my smartphone for anything other than vacation navigation, but I am still playing the Game of Thrones: Ascent free-to-play experience, trying to get one of my dragons to evolve to the adolescence phase.
