14 DAY TRIAL // It has just been revealed that the first major expansion for Elite Dangerous: Horizons will be delayed for six weeks, until June.
Elite Dangerous had a weird structure until recently, and it wasn’t clear exactly what the players are buying and what they should look for. After a debacle with the expansion that had the same price as the original game, the team sorted things out and released the Horizons Season Pass.
This season pass brings support for all the major upgrades that are coming in the near future, and the first one was supposed to be The Engineers, with the 2.1 version. The CEO David Braben announced that the new expansion would be at least six weeks late and it would land in June.
“What it means is that 2.1 is pushed out by around 6 weeks. This is to push the quality up, which is a good thing for the game. It’s ready when it’s ready. It does mean you’ll have to wait a bit longer, but it will be worth the wait,” David said on Reddit.
A number of other expansions are already planned and they are called Guardians, The Commanders, and a final secret one. In time, players will get the ability to command bigger ships with real people making up the crew, and maybe even get an FPS module.
To top it all off, the Horizons expansion is still under development and the first Beta is expected to land in May.
