Gamers can take on the Shining Lady, a new Bhaalspawn

The team at Beamdog that created the Enhanced Editions for the two Baldur's Gate titles is announcing that the mysterious project it has been working on is an expansion called Siege of Dragonspear, which is designed to bridge the narrative gap between the two.

With Sarevok dead, the player will have to deal with a new threat called the Shining Lady, another Bhaalspawn who is gathering a massive army and seems determined to dominate the Sword Coast and eliminate any rivals.

Beamdog states, "The closer you get to the Shining Lady, the more you realize your father, the dead Lord of Murder still casts a long shadow upon your path. Baldur's Gate has put its faith in you, but you must determine whose interests you truly serve before you face the Shining Lady among the ruins of Dragonspear Castle..."

Apparently, the expansion will be about 25 hours long and will require a copy of the Enhanced Edition for the first Baldur's Gate to play.

Gamers will get new areas, more monsters to fight and more rewards to get access to, and there are four new companions to recruit and use during combat.

A shaman class is also added in Siege of Dragonspear and cross-platform cooperative multiplayer is added on all platforms on which the game will be offered.

Gamers who want just to see the story will have a new easy mode that eliminates the combat difficulties.
