Nintendo announced the Nintentdo 3DS exclusive platformer Yoshi's New Island release date, coming out on March 14, in North America.

Yoshi's New Island has been overseen by the original Yoshi's Island creator, Takashi Tezuka. The upcoming game will see Yoshi reunited with Baby Mario, in order to help him reach safety, according to MyNintendoNews.

The previous gameplay mechanics will be present in the 3DS version, including flutter jumps, egg throws and ground pounds, as well as some new actions that utilize the Nintendo 3DS's unique features.

The reboot of the 2006 DS title will feature an art direction that is very similar to the previous Yoshi games, with oil paintings, watercolor and crayon-like designs.

Some new screenshots of the upcoming platformer have also been released, available below the article.

Yoshi's New Island has been first announced during E3 2013 (with a different title), and now it appears the title is almost ready to launch. The game will be available both in retail and on Nintendo's eShop.
