The development team at SEGA in charge of the Yakuza series announces that the new title in the franchise is called Ishin and will feature a new character called Ryoma Sakamoto.

The name is translated as Restoration, according to Siliconera, and it seems that the new experience might be linked to the Meiji Restoration period in the history of Japan, which happened in the final decades of the XIX century.

Another possibility is for the name to be connected to an even earlier period in the XIII century.

SEGA is not yet offering any clear details on the core mechanics of the game or on how the story will be linked to that of modern-day Yakuza titles.

The team is also unwilling to talk about a potential launch window or about platforms, although the franchise has been associated with Sony platform, which means a PlayStation 4 launch is a possibility.
