The first Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z-based digital comic has been launched by Team Ninja and Dark Horse, and the game's release has been pushed from March 4 to March 18.

The comic is the first of a three-part digital series that will delve into Yaiba's backstory and will provide insight into the game's world, with the first issue covering how his sword got its name, “Heartless.”

The digital comic depicting the zombie-slaying cyber-ninja's origins is currently available on iTunes and Google Play, via Dark Horse's app, and on the Dark Horse digital store.

The comic is written by Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, illustrated by Rafael Ortiz, Carlos Badilla and features James Harren as cover artist.

The series will be initially released in digital form, with a full-color high-quality print version to be released at the same time with the game's North American launch, starting March 18.
