Michael Pachter, the analyst watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, says that he expects video game sales in the United States and in Europe to grow by 10 percent in 2014, by 7% next year and another 6% in 2016.

The recently launched Xbox One from Microsoft and PlayStation 4 from Sony are the main reasons for the increase, but their influence will decline in 2017.

It’s unclear whether the numbers take into account retail sales only or also include content that can be delivered via digital distribution.

Electronic Arts, Activision, Take Two, Ubisoft are the publishers that are best situated to take advantage of the increased overall sales, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

Both Microsoft and Sony are expecting to sell more than 5 million of their next-gen consoles before the end of the current fiscal year.

November game sales in the United States were boosted by the launch of the Xbox One and the PS4, but the percentages were lower than expected.
