Major League Baseball announces that it is working on a new special app for the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, which is supposed to be launched before the end of the year.

Gamers can already pick it up for the older current-gen consoles, for smartphones and for tablets.

The app is designed to give them access to matches, statistics and other content linked to baseball.

All those who plan on getting the MLB app on the Xbox One will also have to pay for a Gold Live membership in order to access it, while those using the PlayStation 4 will not be asked to pay for PS Plus.

Since the two new home consoles were announced, both Sony and Microsoft have promised to deliver a range of entertainment applications for them, but the actual roll-out since launch has been relatively slow.
