Activision and Electronic Arts will battle for top position

Patrick Liu, a former DICE developer who is currently working at Rovio, believes that the market for the coming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles will only have space for two or three major publishers.

He expects both Electronic Arts and Activision to try and gain a dominant position on the new generation of devices.

Liu tells GamesIndustry.biz that, “It makes sense for them to be there a little longer because that market is still there and there will only be room for two or three publishers. They get to keep the rest of the cake.”

Other companies need to move as quickly as possible to the digital space in order to make their titles available to as many players as possible, including on handhelds, on mobile devices and via the Internet.
