Microsoft has confirmed that its upcoming Xbox One next-gen console won't support 3D Blu-ray discs at launch, as the company has apparently decided to focus on other features for now.

The Xbox One is set to make its debut in 13 countries around the world on November 22.

Until then, Microsoft is hyping up its various features and revealed to Cnet that, unfortunately, 3D Blu-ray discs can't be played by the Xbox One at least at launch.

No concrete reason has been given and no actual confirmation has been made about plans to implement such support at some point after launch.

Sony has already confirmed that its PS4 will support 3D Blu-ray discs, meaning owners with compatible TVs can enjoy high-quality movies without having to buy an extra dedicated Blu-ray player.
