A patent from Microsoft suggests that the company is getting ready to extend the Achievement system in order to also cover those who are only using the coming Xbox One home console to watch television or movies.

GamesIndustry.biz cites information that shows Microsoft preparing to introduce a new tier of rewards for those who are focused on entertainment more than on gaming.

The patent states, “To increase interactive viewing and encourage a user to watch one or more particular items of video content, awards and achievements may be tied to those items of video content.”

Microsoft has already talked about an unprecedented relationship with the NFL and Achievements make sense given the new mix of real matches and virtual leagues.

The Xbox One will be launched before the end of 2013.
