The upcoming Xbox One home console is designed to appeal to gamers and media users of all ages and the development team at Microsoft wants to make sure that it implements a suite of parental controls that are exhaustive and easy to use.

Ben Kilgore, a vice president of the entertainment division at the company, tells Polygon that, "Part of the goal is how do we simplify it and hit on the few things that are really what parents are looking for to keep them in charge."

As with the stance on used games, the team at Microsoft is still exploring possibilities, so no details are yet available.

Kilgore does suggest that Microsoft is aiming to create a way of setting up the same parental controls on all its multimedia and network-enabled devices in the future.

The Xbox One will be out before the end of the year.
