If you're the kind of person who likes to dabble in hovering over their Xbox One console like a futuristic demigod, using the SmartGlass app, then you'll be pleased to find out that Microsoft has made a new version of the beta available for download.

SmartGlass is a companion app for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, compatible with a bunch of mobile and Windows 8-running devices, allowing users more leeway for interaction, transforming said devices into remote controls with a second screen.

The app is currently in beta on the Xbox One computer entertainment system, and you can get it from the Google Play store for Android devices or the Windows App Store, for phones, tablets and other Windows 8-enabled devices.

The newest update, version 2.4.1408.01100, comes with quite a few new features, such as some Facebook-like social functions that enable users to "like" game clips and other related items in the activity feed, as well as to view elements shared with them directly from messages.

Additionally, the new update also adds the ability for users to purchase Xbox One games and apps directly from the app, browse for recent and popular games and add-ons, and it delivers a few stability tweaks and bug fixes.
