The first update for the Xbox One Skype app is out, delivering an enhanced experience across the board.

Skype was launched for Xbox One back in November when the next generation console first became available, and the development team has been hard at work ever since, aiming to iron out the kinks and improve the overall user experience for Skype users.

The update brings several additions to the table, most notably an improved chat system allowing users to seamlessly jump between using Skype on phones, PCs and the Xbox One, keeping conversations in sync and reducing the number of missed messages for a better chatting experience.

The improved chat functionality now comes with push notifications and full synchronization, alerting users every time a new message arrives and offering an extended chat history of up to 1000 messages, rather than the previous option that only saved the last 7 days.

The new update also allows Skype users to filter their contacts to see who is online, so Xbox One owners won’t have to scroll through their entire list of contacts in order to find someone to chat with.

Additionally, first time Skype users on the Xbox One just got a fancy new tutorial, making learning how to use the app for video calling and chatting from the convenience of your living room easier than ever.

Furthermore, a number of bugs and known issues have been sorted out, the developers taking in all the feedback sent over the past few months and fixing their users’ problems, seeking to improve the Skype experience.

Fans of more lively talks will also be pleased to find out that Skype chat now has new “hidden heroes” emoticons, based on Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
