The market will otherwise remain loyal to the PlayStation 4

Atsushi Miyauchi, an industry veteran and director of the Dynasty Warriors series, believes that the Xbox One next-gen console from Microsoft needs to launch in Japan at the same time as in North America and Europe in order to perform well.

He told Polygon during PAX Australia that, "I think Microsoft gave up promoting and presenting the Xbox 360 in Japan, it didn’t keep the momentum there. And if they can release the Xbox One as close as possible to North American release date, I think that would make a really big difference this time around."

Regardless of launch date, the Xbox One will also have to deal with the brand loyalty that most Japanese gamers feel towards Sony, which is bound to lift the fortunes of the PlayStation 4.

Both next-gen consoles are expected in November on all major markets.
