The company might announce plans after the device is available

Albert Penello, a director at the hardware division of Microsoft, says that his company might introduce a subsidized version of the Xbox One home console but has no plans to do so soon after the device is launched.

He tells Gamespot that, “I think at launch, most people are saving up and they’re going…they want in.”

He adds, “The subsidized model really makes a lot of sense towards the end of the life. People are more price sensitive. They are more cost conscious.”

The Xbox One will sell for 499 dollars or Euro, which is 100 more than its rival, the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Price can be a big detail for gamers who want to get a next-gen console at launch and Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of the difference by giving those who pre-order the console on the European market a code for FIFA 14.
