The Xbox One has been confirmed as launching on the Chinese market in September of this year and it seems that gamers in the Communist country might be asked to pay a hefty premium for an official next-gen console.

Kotaku has translated a page on the Zol.com electronics site, which claims that Microsoft has revealed that the device will sell for 4,999 renminbi, which is the equivalent of about 800 dollars or 610 Euro.

Microsoft has not commented on the pricing and it will probably wait until closer to the official launch date in order to confirm or deny the rumors.

At the moment, an Xbox One console, which no longer includes the Kinect motion tracking system in the core retail package, now sells for 399 dollars in North America and 399 Euro in Europe.

The PlayStation 4 from Sony has also been confirmed as coming to the Chinese market, but no price has been rumored or revealed for it so far.

Both competing next-gen devices are looking to have a significant impact in the country that has a large potential audience which until now could only get the platform from a secondary, gray market.

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 has sold 2 to 3 million units more than the Xbox One all over the world.
