The Xbox One might get an official Media Remote from Microsoft on March 4 of this year, allowing gamers to control the home console as they would do a more traditional television set or set-top box.

A pre-order page was briefly available on the official site for the device before it was taken down and Engadget says that the details indicate a 24.99 dollars or Euro price tag. At the moment, there are no details about the functions of the device.

The image shows that the Xbox One Media Remote will allow gamers to navigate the menus of the console, switch between apps, pause, play and rewind media.

It’s unclear why gamers would be interested in picking up a new control device for the Microsoft console considering that they can use the official controller, SmartGlass devices and Kinect to accomplish the same tasks.

On March 4, the Xbox One will also get access to a second major firmware update, which will deal with multiplayer and party mechanics.
