The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One has not announced an official launch date for the device on the Japanese market, but it seems that a number of activities that will advertise the event will start in January 2014.

The information comes from a NeoGAF thread that mentions an end of the year social media meeting that took place in Shingawa Tower and offered information on the platform for the local media.

The Xbox One has been available in 13 core markets since November 22 and more countries around the world will get access to it next year.

The staggered launch is designed to allow Microsoft to manufacture enough devices to satisfy initial demand.

At the moment, more than 2 million units of the new console have been sold and more solid numbers are expected early in 2014.

The PlayStation 4 will be launched in Japan on February 22.
